I'm actively contributing to Joomla since March 2007, adding to Joomla 1.5
features that are absent both in the core and in available extensions.
During this period, with the help and feedback from community, I created
several Joomla extensions (yvComment etc.) and answered hundreds of support
questions.
I could make much more important things to Joomla (making conceptual,
architectural decisions in Joomla core and implementing them), if only I
were inside some trusted Joomla “club”, which decides what, how and when
something will be implemented. My experience here in Joomla shows, that if
you want something to be done, you have to do that yourself. The same
applies to the Joomla core: writing long “White papers” and “Feature
requests” and discussing them is not productive (if only you’re not going
to live and wait forever). So I'm thinking about application to the
membership of the Joomla! Development group...
6. What do you think of Joomla and its future?
It's hard to choose "the best CMS" (and there is no the best one for
everybody), but it looks like Joomla! community is the largest among close
competitors.
It’s very encouraging to be a part of large Joomla! community, to see that
you’re needed, and your work is used by thousands of people all over the
world. On the other hand, such large community gives great potential for
this project to stay near the top of the world's CMS list in the future.
This is why I'm sticking to Joomla!
7. What do you want to say to Chinese Joomla users ?
Joomla has much to give you, and it also needs many heads and hands to
support it. Be ambitious: create something unique and useful and contribute
it to Joomla: there is plenty of choices (see e.g. "Your contribution is
needed" section on the yvComment Homepage
(http://yurivolkov.com/Joomla/yvComment/index_en.html#Contribute)...
8. Introduce your team or company if you have one
I have different teams for different projects... And I like Joomla! team of
developers, translators and testers, who ensure good quality of my Joomla!
extensions: I could name only part of them on my site and on the "Credits"
pages, that are displayed after installation of my extensions.
