How to Upgrade from Agora 2.5 to 3.0

 

      • BACK UP YOUR DATABASE NOW ***
Warning for Agora Admins: This is currently Beta software. If you are unsure of editing your database and possible issues, please refrain from installing this Beta on live sites. The purpose of releasing Beta versions is to discover issues that have not yet been found through the testing.

Step 1 - BACK UP YOUR DATABASE NOW

OK, now that *** YOU HAVE BACKED UP YOUR DATABASE *** we can get started

Step 2 - Back up IMG Folder

  1. Back Up the components/com_agora/img Folder (This is where user attachments and Avatars are found)

Download the entire folder and its content through your program so you can upload it later.

Step 3 - Uninstall Agora 2.5

  1. Log into Joomla! administrator
  2. Select Extensions
  3. Select Install/Uninstall
  4. Click Components
  5. Select Agora
  6. Click Uninstall

This will remove the component, but will leave the database. Do not delete the database.

Step 4 - Install Agora 3.0

  1. Log Into Joomla! Administration
  2. Select Extension
  3. Select Install/Uninstall
  4. Click Browse next to Package File input box
  5. Select the Agora 3.0 Component File you have downloaded
  6. Select Upload File & Install

Step 5 - Restore the IMG Folder

  1. the IMG folder back to components/com_agora/img

Step 6 - Reset Forum Permissions


Warning for Agora Admins: Do not delete the Global group from Components - Agora Forum - Groups! All the below instructions are performed in Components - Agora Forum - Forums. If you delete the Global Group from the Groups Configuration your database may be critically corrupted!

NOTE: in Agora 3.0 Beta Rev.2 and later, Global group from "Groups" can no longer be deleted

In order for permissions to be set correctly, Global Access must be removed (if it is there) and re-added to each Forum

  1. Log Into Joomla! Administration
  2. Select Components
  3. Select Agora Forum
  4. Click Forums
  5. Select a Forum to edit
  6. Select the Global Group (if it exists)
  7. Click Delete Group
  8. Click Add Group
  9. Select Global
  10. Click Submit
  11. Set the Permissions for this each role
  12. Repeat for all Forums

Suggested default permissions: Global Group Privileges

  • Guest: read, read_rss
  • Member: read, bbcode, bbcode_img, read_rss, post_reply, post_poll, post_topic
  • Moderator: read, bbcode, bbcode_img, read_rss, post_reply, post_poll, post_topic, edit_topic, edit_posts, delete_topics, delete_posts, make_sticky, close_topic
  • Admin: read, bbcode, bbcode_img, read_rss, post_reply, post_poll, post_topic, edit_topic, edit_posts, delete_topics, delete_posts, make_sticky, close_topic
